Training Approach and Course Duration
In DLCTC we have a learner centred approach to training. We are committed to providing you with relevant training and supports that meets your individual needs and we will do this in a friendly and supportive environment. We will encourage and support you to reach your potential throughout your training programme.
Typically, trainees are offered a training programme determined by their individual needs. Following an initial needs assessment all Trainees will have an Individual Learning Plan, which will incorporate various modules and help you progress towards a major award on the QQI National Framework of Qualifications at level 3 and/or 4.
Young people can avail of training for up to two years in the centre, however, the norm is that upon completion their Major QQI Award, they are encouraged and supported to progress to further education in local colleges or the ETB Training Centre. For others, they finish their training programme on our Bridging / Work Experience programme, doing a work placement with a local employer. This option equips them with important relevant work skills and in many cases, it has led directly to an offer of employment.
