Additional Services
In addition to providing QQI certified training programmes, DLCTC offers various additional support services to trainees of the centre:
- Counselling service
A Counsellor is available in the centre and is accessible to all trainees of the centre. The Counsellor is fully qualified and in a position to deal with a wide range of issues that may be affecting young people attending the Training Centre. Close links are maintained with parents (where appropriate) and with other agencies that may be in a position to provide additional support that may be needed.
- Literacy and Numeracy
Where a specific need around literacy and numeracy is identified, additional supports are put in place to support learners. Resources provided by NALA can be accessed by learners and support provided by the centre to best utilise these
- Career Development
The Advocate programme provides a one to one, tailor made career path planning programme. This service is available to all trainees and allows each learner to develop a realistic career path plan, which may involve moving on from the centre into work, further education or training. The centre has excellent links with local colleges and other training programmes.
- Health, Personal and Life Skills Programme
A programme of activities on important health, social and personal related topics are schedules throughout the year and guest speakers are invited into the centre to talk with trainees.
- Sports and Leisure Programme
All trainees are encouraged to participate in sports and leisure activities, which take place in local sports and leisure centres on Friday mornings.
